Dana and Peter
Peter and Dana Smith are the proprietors of the Blue Agave B&B. They purchased the property formerly known as La Zarzuela in 2010. Peter and Dana are both retired and devoted to the comfort of their guests.
Peter is a Professor Emeritus at the University of Arizona and is an internationally-known planetary scientist having developed several space instruments and led the Phoenix Mission to Mars in 2008.
Dana is a nurse practitioner and still donates some of her time to free clinics in Tucson. She is also a trained artist and her sculptures and paintings decorate the grounds and walls of the property.
Peter and Dana have two dogs–Happy and Loopy—who are kept in a private yard. They enjoy walking the dogs on the local trails and going on longer hikes when time permits.
They are knowledgeable about the desert environment and, having lived in Tucson for many years (Peter grew up in Tucson), they know the local attractions and restaurants and are available for suggestions on places to visit.
